The price is what the seller asks. BV is what the link is worth.
BV — backlink value — is what one new followed link from a site is worth to the site it points to, in dollars, before anything about your own site is known. It measures ranking benefit, not cost. Publications set their own prices; the BV score is the figure to set beside a quote, so you know what a backlink is worth before you pay for it. mxverify sells no links, and no site pays to be listed or valued. The score is the one bklink puts on every link in an audit, worked out by BV 2.2.
google.com: up to $1,829, and $183 for the link you can get
google.com is about as strong as a site gets, so a followed editorial link from it would be worth up to $1,829. But Google is a search engine, not a publication: it publishes no guest posts and sells no link placements. The links a business can realistically get there are a business or map listing, or a page on one of Google's services that anyone can make — links Google's own guidance asks sites to mark as user-generated, so neither is an editorial vote. Both are type C, which puts google.com's BV score at $183. The size of the site sets the ceiling; the kind of link decides how much of it you get. Social networks, video platforms, messaging apps and AI assistants are valued the same way, at the link you can actually get.

How the value is worked out
Two things about the linking site decide it. Site Strength, from 0 to 100, is half the site's link authority rating and half its organic search traffic on a log scale. Strength sets the ceiling: a followed editorial link is worth up to $2,265 at strength 100 and about half as much for every 16 points below that — about $179 at strength 41, where a mid-sized site sits. The scale is pinned to published guest-post asking prices at two points, but the score is what a link is worth to rankings, not what anyone charges. Link type decides how much of that survives, following the distinctions Google's link guidance draws between editorial, sponsored and user-generated links and link schemes:

Link networks: many sites, one owner
Sharing a server does not make sites a network: large hosts put unrelated sites side by side, and one syndication host can carry pages for hundreds of real newspapers. A shared server counts as one owner's network only when the footprints agree — shared private nameservers, registrations within one 90-day window, one registrar, one theme, identical audited purchases. Of 21 shared servers, 12 are networks. A link from a site on one is type D.
